Large fracture/opening in the drained lake bed on the surface of the Greenland Ice Sheet. This image relates to article that appeared in the April 18, 2008 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Ian Joughin of the University of Washington and colleagues, was titled "Seasonal Speedup Along the Western Flank of the Greenland Ice Sheet."
