Identifying communities at risk for impacts of extreme heat

Vulnerability at the census tract level differs by index. Three vulnerability indices are plotted for each census tract in California: (a) CalEnviroScreen 3.0 (CES), (b) the Heat-Health Action Index (HHAI), and (c) the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI). In each panel, the 99th percentile specifies the most vulnerable census tracts under the index. Tracts that did not have reported values for any or all of the indices are white.
