This is a Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus). Males of this non-domestic species display a broad range of saturated structural colors, like vibrant reds, yellows and purple in concert with intricate ornamentation. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 24 Oct. 2014 issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by M.-C. Koschowitz at University of Bonn in Bonn, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "Beyond the rainbow."
