Aviation Electronics Technician 1st Class Michael Pecota of Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic, Detachment Patuxent River, Maryland, receives the Admiral Sims Award for Intellectual Courage from Vice Adm. Philip Cullom, deputy chief of naval operations for fleet readiness and logistics, during the Athena D.C. 1.0 Challenge--a "Shark Tank"-inspired event to discover innovative ideas from Sailors and Marines. The event was held during the Sea-Air-Space Exposition.
