Born Rule Holds True in Quantum Mechanics (IMAGE)
Caption
A single photon source impeaches on a three-slit aperture. The apertures can be individually opened or closed to test the validity of Born's rule for multi-order interference. The resultant interference pattern demonstrates the wave-particle duality in quantum mechanics. This image relates to an article that appeared in the July 23, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. U. Sinha of the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and colleagues is titled, "Ruling Out Multi-Order Interference in Quantum Mechanics."
