Whether some American Bellflowers (Campanulastrum americanum) become annuals or biennials can depend on how much light their mothers received. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Nov. 16, 2007 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Laura Galloway at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Twin Cities, MN, was titled "Transgenerational Plasticity Is Adaptive in the Wild."
