These are Phillyrea angustifolia twigs with fruit produced (compatible cross). This image relates to an article that appeared in the March 26, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Pierre Saumitou-Laprade of CNRS in Villeneuve d’Ascq, France, and colleagues, was titled, "A Self-Incompatibility System Explains High Male Frequencies in an Androdioecious Plant."
