NASA's Aqua Satellite Sees California's Springs Fire (IMAGE)

The Springs Fire grew to 10,000 acres and was ten percent contained as of early Friday morning, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention. This natural-color satellite image was collected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer aboard the Aqua satellite on May 2, 2013. Actively burning areas, detected by MODIS's thermal bands, are outlined in red.
