'DNA Bricks' Act as Tiny Legos (5 of 8) (IMAGE)
Caption
The researchers made a large cuboid that was assembled from hundreds of DNA bricks, and then used it as a 1000-voxel (each voxel is 2.5 nm × 2.5 nm × 2.7 nm) 3-D canvas for constructing complex shapes. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 30, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Yonggang Ke at Harvard University in Boston, Mass. and colleagues was titled, "Three-Dimensional Structures Self-Assembled from DNA Bricks."
