Wing Pattern Develops Differently in Moths in Same Family (IMAGE)

Doses of the blood thinner heparin altered the eyespot patterns in io and polyphemus moths. The fact that the two species responded differently to heparin suggests that wing pattern develops in distinct ways, even among moths that belong to the same family.
