Dr. Kovalevsky discusses the CounterACT project (VIDEO)
Caption
Andrey Kovalevsky, Ph.D., Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tenn., discusses an ongoing research project to go crystals of human acetylcholinesterase on the International Space Station. These crystals, which cannot be grown on Earth due to gravity, will then be returned to the lab, where scientists will lean more about the enzyme's protein structure. This information may help in the development of improved antidotes to nerve poisons such as sarin and VX gas.
