Sandra Morgen, professor of anthropology and associate dean of the University of Oregon's graduate school, talks about her new book, "Stretched Thin: Poor Families, Welfare Work, and Welfare Reform." The book discusses a comprehensive research project on Oregon's reforms of the late 1990s. The research was led by Morgen, UO sociologist Joan Acker and former UO doctoral student Jill Weigt, now a sociologist at California State University-San Marcos.
