dcMEG to Measure Magnetite Levels in the Brain (IMAGE)
Caption
After a baseline dcMEG scan is taken, study participants are scanned in an MRI unit (A), which magnetizes any magnetite particles in their brains. Then a second dcMEG scan (B) measures the resulting magnetic fields, allowing production of an “arrow map” (below), indicating the direction and strength of the fields. Combining the dcMEG data with an MRI image of the participant (C) shows the location and the amount in magnetite in the brain.
