To demonstrate chip-to-chip communication along both the East-West and North-South axes, boards with sixteen chips were built and tested. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 8 August, 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Paul A. Merolla and colleagues was titled, 'A million spiking-neuron integrated circuit with a scalable communication network and interface.'
