Protein Plumbers Ensure Working Valves (1 of 4) (IMAGE)
Caption
Mice deficient in epsin proteins (LEC-DKO mice) had immature lymphatic valves and impaired drainage of lymph fluids. Images show immunofluorescent staining of wild-type and LEC-DKO lymphatic valves with antibodies against key molecules of lymphatic endothelial cells. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 14, 2014, issue of Science Signaling, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. Xiaolei Liu at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma, Okla., and colleagues was titled, 'Temporal and spatial regulation of epsin abundance and VEGFR3 signaling are required for lymphatic valve formation and function.'
