Small temporary ponds are numerous on the coastal plain surrounding Lake St. Lucia. These ponds support dense 'swarms' of highly active water beetles. Here researchers from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and Plymouth University collect water beetles and measure water chemistry of the ponds.
