The Mountain Avens (Dryas octopetala) emigrated to Svalbard from Russia.. This image relates to article that appeared in the June 15, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Inger Greve Alsos and colleagues of Natural History Museum and University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway, was titled "Frequent Long-Distance Plant Colonization in the Changing Arctic."
