The novel NMR sensor can be brought to the patient's bedside and take a measurement in about 45 seconds. The researchers used the sensor to measure the upper calf, but the sensor can also be placed against other parts of the body. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jul. 24, 2019, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by L.A. Colucci at Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) in Cambridge, MA; and colleagues was titled, 'Fluid assessment in dialysis patients by point-of-care magnetic relaxometry.'
