Brain Circuits Involved in Stress-Induced Lack of Motivation (IMAGE)
Caption
Neurons in the lateral habenula (LHb) of the mouse brain send projections to the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and dorsal raphe nucleus (DR), two brain regions responsible for dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-HT) release, respectively. Imbalances in dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain are associated with depression.
