One of the large boulders atop the Rio Blanco inner moraine in the Rio Blanco valley, sampled for cosmogenic 10Be surface exposure dating. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Sept. 25, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Joseph M. Licciardi at University of New Hampshire in Durham and colleagues, was titled, "Holocene Glacier Fluctuations in the Peruvian Andes Indicate Northern Climate Linkages."
