This is what the glaciers surrounding Mount Everest looked like in 1976 This material relates to a paper that appeared in the June 19th, 2019, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.M. Maurer at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY, and colleagues was titled, "Acceleration of ice loss across the Himalayas over the last 40 years."
