Amplified bands of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and heme oxygenase-1 mRNA appeared in the frontal cortex of chronic cerebral ischemic rats at three, six, and nine weeks. Cilostazol reduced hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and heme oxygenase-1 expression and activity.
