Operating principle of the proposed Ni-loaded CeN catalyst

Nickel particles dissociate H2 to provide H atoms to either N atoms from the CeN crystal lattice itself or protruding N atoms from N2 molecules filling a nitrogen vacancy. In this study, it was found that CeN without Ni can also dissociate H2 molecules.
