Black Glass in New Martian Meteorite (2 of 12) (IMAGE)

This is the 1.1 kg stone of the Tissint Martian meteorite at the Natural History Museum, London. The rear of the stone is almost completely covered with a glossy black fusion crust. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the October 11, 2012, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by Hasnaa Chennaoui Aoudjehane at Hassan II University Casablanca in Casablanca, Morocco, and colleagues was titled, “Tissint Martian Meteorite: A Fresh Look at the Interior, Surface and Atmosphere of Mars.”
