This is an artist’s concept of an impact event on Pallas. This artwork was created using the 3D shape model published by Schmidt, et al. 2009 in Science. This image relates to an article that appeared in the October 9 issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. B.E. Schmidt of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, Calif., and colleagues, was titled, "The Shape and Surface Variation of 2 Pallas from the Hubble Space Telescope."
