The Angular Control of Light (3 of 5) (IMAGE)
Caption
This is a photograph of the angular selective sample (top view). Two white beams incident at different angles are either transmitted or reflected. The whole setup is immersed in the liquid filled with light-scattering nanoparticles so that the researchers can trace the ray. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Mar. 28, 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Yichen Shen at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues was titled, 'Optical Broadband Angular Selectivity.'
