Formation and dynamics of quantum vortices in a “can” filled with superfluid by stirring with a “stick” and a “ball.” This image relates to an article that appeared in the June 10, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Aurel Bulgac of University of Washington in Seattle, Wash., and colleagues was titled, "Real-Time Dynamics of Quantized Vortices in a Unitary Fermi Superfluid."
