This is a 10-meter archaeological site excavated over 5 seasons, and currently dates from 48-86 thousand years ago (ka). This image relates to an article that appeared in the August 14, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Kyle Brown of University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa, and colleagues, was titled, "Fire As an Engineering Tool of Early Modern Humans."
