Dr. Mark Baumgartner of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is standing beside the acoustic buoy. Baumgartner is the co-lead of the joint WCS New York Aquarium-WHOI project and developer of the whale-identification software used by the buoy's acoustic instrument.
