A Computer Image of the Particles

This image shows the particles. The image box zooms in on how a particle is connected to the substrate. A flexible tether provides a permanent connection, while the biomarker molecules (green) temporarily attach to binder molecules on the substrate (blue) and on the particle (purple), creating a second bond, which temporarily reduces the Brownian motion of the particle.
