Matthew Hufford stands in a field of corn

Matthew Hufford is the first author of a study detailing the genomes of 26 lines of corn. Hufford said the sheer genetic diversity present in corn created hurdles for the assembly of the genomes. Around 85% of the corn genome is composed repeated patters.
