Poor survival rate of adenocarcinoma lung cancer patients according to the levels of AIM2 and smoking/COPD status. Immunohistochemical analysis of AIM2 were performed on normal and cancerous matched tissues of non-COPD (A) and COPD (B) lung adenocarcinoma patients. Patients were stratified as lung cancer, non-smoker and smoker non-COPD patients, (A); or as lung cancer, non-smoker and smoker COPD patients (B). AIM2 quantification in tumoral (C) and normal tissues (D) was plotted. (E) Survival curve of lung adenocarcinoma patients with or without COPD presenting high score of AIM2 expression according to the immunohistochemical analysis. (F) Survival curve of COPD lung adenocarcinoma patients according to AIM2 expression associated to a cut-off of 907 μm2, calculated by means of ROC analysis. Data in (C and D) are expressed as median ± quartile range and represented as violin plots. Mann-Whitney test was performed. Log-rank test was performed to statistically analyse the survival rate between the groups. Statistical differences were obtained according to Gehan-Breslow-Wilcoxon test.
