Dr. Meg Staton, assistant professor of bioinformatics with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, is participating in ?a three-year, $3-million grant by the National Science Foundation to develop a user-friendly interface that will help forest scientists record and share genomic data for various tree species.? A social media component of the project will allow citizens and youth to participate in data collection by geo-tagging individual trees with species information and an image.
