Approximately 700 million people worldwide now live with chronic kidney disease (CKD), largely due to a huge spike in obesity and type 2 diabetes in recent decades. Salt and high blood pressure are closely tied to CKD but scientists from the University of South Australia have identified an enzyme called NEDD4-2 which is critical to kidney health.
