Zebrafish Swimming in 3-D: Real vs. Simulated (VIDEO)
Caption
The video is a visualization of the motions of zebrafish obtained from real experimental data (top) and from simulated data using the new and novel 3-D model (bottom). The researchers, led by Maurizio Porfiri, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, continue to refine the model's capability to reproduce the zebrafish swimming behavior observed in real experiments, hoping that it will eventually reduce the number of animals used in scientific experiments.
