Numerical model for radiation transfer inside human skin

Caption

To understand how laser-induced skin damage occurs, researchers considered a two-layer skin model with a thin "pigmentation layer" sandwiched between "normal skin layer." The heat absorption was primarily due to coloring pigments called "melanosomes" in the pigmentation layer.
