Gut Viruses: An Artistic Rendering

Gut viruses called bacteriophage, or phage (red), protect the gut bacteria they infect (blue) from antibiotics by harboring antibiotic-resistance genes. The findings mean that drugs that target phages could offer a potential new path to mitigate antibiotic resistance.
