Mitochondrial Superoxide Contributes to Cancer metastasis (IMAGE)

Tumor cells' mitochondria produce more free radicals known as superoxide ions. It is this overproduction of superoxide that leads to the formation of metastasis.Consequently, scavenging mitochondrial reactive oxygen species is shown to impair tumor metastasis.
