Video Demonstrating Brain Activity in Response to Speech Intonation (VIDEO)
Caption
Neural populations in the human auditory cortex respond to changes of vocal pitch in speech. In this video, we show cortical activity recorded from a small region of the brain in response to three sentences. As the pitch of the sentence goes high, neural activity (shown in the color and size of the circle on the brain) increases.
