Considering the enormous public health burden imposed by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), accurate and early estimation of individuals' lifetime risk is an important step for ASCVD prevention. The China-PAR project (Prediction for ASCVD Risk in China) developed and validated sex-specific lifetime risk prediction equations for ASCVD, which have good internal consistency and external validation. These equations will be beneficial to improve risk factors control and further reduce the great disease burden of ASCVD in China.
