University of Miami Chemical Oceanographer Dennis Hansell is the 2014 Sverdrup Lecturer. The Lecture is one of the highest awards the Section bestows on its members, and will be presented at the AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting to be held in Honolulu, Feb. 23-28, 2014. Hansell's lecture will focus on progress in scientific understanding of the dynamics of organic material dissolved in the ocean, one of Earth's major reservoirs of carbon.
