Two Ways Neuroblastoma Takes out let-7 (IMAGE) Boston Children's Hospital Caption This Venn diagram shows that most patients with neuroblastoma lose let-7 through a single mechanism, but rarely both together. In about 25 percent of patients, the oncogene MYCN is amplified, whereas most of the rest lose let-7 through a chromosomal deletion of the 11q and/or 3p regions. A very small number of patients have overlapping tumor-promoting mechanisms, suggesting that once a cancer develops one anti-let-7 strategy, it has little need for a second one.
