W-Band Silicon-germanium Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (IMAGE)
Caption
Electrical engineers from UC San Diego have created high-performance W-Band silicon-germanium radio frequency integrated circuits for passive millimeter-wave imaging. This advance could lead to significantly less expensive imaging systems for identifying concealed weapons, for helping helicopters to land during dust storms, and for high frequency data communications. Electrical engineers from UC San Diego presented this circuit at the 2009 IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium. This work was also selected as one of the best three student papers at RFIC 2009.
