Elizabeth Ostrowski, an assistant professor in biology and biochemistry at the University of Houston, led a study on cheating in Dictyostelium discoideum, a species of social amoeba. She and her collaborators found that while cheaters do not take over populations, they also cannot ever fully be removed. The findings are described in a paper appearing June 15 in Current Biology.
