Nematostella Vectensis (IMAGE) Stowers Institute for Medical Research Caption The sea anemone Nematostella uses an array of elegant tentacles to capture and feed on marine plankton. New research show that the radial patterning of the tentacles requires Hox genes, which are also found in humans and other vertebrates where they control body patterning along the head-to-tail axis.
