Effect on THP-1 cells of adipocyte-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) from lean and obese subjects on cholesterol efflux gene expression and cholesterol efflux to media. THP-1 cells were incubated with obese and lean visceral adipocyte-derived EVs for 24 hours. Images of fluorescently labeled THP-1 (blue) macrophages, fluorescently labeled Dil-oxLDL (red), and exosomes (1 μg/mL; unlabeled) VAT tissue exosomes from subjects with obese and lean subjects.
