Lindsay Arvin, a University of Wyoming master's degree student from Chicago majoring in geology and geophysics, was the lead author of a paper, titled "Global Patterns of Dust and Bedrock Nutrient Supply to Montane Ecoystems," that was published in Science Advances. Here, Arvin samples pine needles in the Sierra Nevada to be analyzed for the fraction of nutrients derived from dust. Arvin took all the dust samples during summer 2015 and conducted the lab work in fall 2015.
