Dendritic Cells (IMAGE)
Caption
Dendritic cells (red) are attracted to high-endothelial venules (HEVs, green) in order to warrant function and integrity of these blood vessels in lymph nodes (left). When HEVs are impaired in activation of sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor-1 signaling (right), dendritic cells fail to interact with HEVs resulting in suppression of white blood cell trafficking into lymph nodes and suppressed immune responses.
