J. Lichtinger examins brain tissue samples at TUM's Research Neutron Source FRM II before they are exposed to a focused cold neutron beam of highest intensity at the measuring station for prompt gamma activation analysis. His special designed detector can detect traces as low as 0.45 nanograms of lithium per gram of tissue.
