Close-Up of Empty Wells and Self-Assembled Sheet (IMAGE)
Caption
Chemists at the University of Tokyo have identified the step of the reaction process where two types of molecules become either an ultrathin sheet or a spherical cage. In these microscopy images, empty wells are seen in the transmission electron microscopy grid (left) and the thin sheet is visible stretching over the same wells (right) after the reaction is complete.
